One Among the Sleepless: a Novel, written and read by Mike Bennett
"SEX, DEATH, AND NOISY NEIGHBOURS"
A killer has come to town. The victims are connected; each pointing to the next, as if in answer to the question: Who is The One?
Is it Peter Reynolds: mild-mannered office clerk pouring petrol through his neighbourâs letterbox in the middle of the night?
Is it Wayne Dolan: a man whose sexual fantasies about his neighbour spiral into dangerous obsession when he learns of her secret life as a dominatrix?
Or is it Gaz: leader of three friends who love nothing more than sex, weed and partying? All women are easy prey for his charms - all except Sally. And the one who doesnât want him, is the one he has to have, whether she likes it or not.
Mick Nixon has to find the connection, because people are disappearing - and if he and Sally are ever going to share more than just lunch, he'd better hurry up, or they could be next.
A dark, funny, and at times horrific ride, One Among the Sleepless is a thriller set just below the surface of suburban existence. You'll laugh, you'll cry, you'll throw it through your neighbour's window tied to a house brick!
"A tale that's harder to put down than a delicious bad habit." Walt Kolenda. Examiner.com
"I just can't get enough of this book! It is fantastic, filled with absolutely everything - comedy, romance, death, and a nice healthy dose of sexual activity. OK,perhaps healthy is pushing it a bit. I didn't find one dull chapter in this weird, raunchy, thrilling novel."

Brighton here I come...
Thanks to this wonderful website I can now begin my twentieth listening to this absolutely brilliant novel read so effectively by Mike Bennett himself! Sadly I managed to lose the iDevise on which my original copy of this hilarious and sometimes quite frightening work of genius was stored, but now I have it on my new iDevice (and also safely on a USB memory stick...) so my nights of lying in bed laughing so loud our beloved dog Cnut (corgi) runs upstairs as fast as his little legs will carry him to see what all the noise coming from my bedroom is all about! To say I love this novel is a gross understatement, I want some of my favourite lines read out at my funeral (hopefully not for years yet as I am only 25...). The character of "Dusty" as well as being very disturbing is also quite homoerotic to me (I am gay!) The wimp who lives(?) beneath the dominatrix really gets my back up he is such a repulsive little squirt. My aunt once ran a b&b in Brighton and I only wish I could have met some of Mike's brilliant characters during my summer visits to stay with her (Dusty cruising Dukes Mound for instance...👹) I cannot recommend this wickedly funny novel enough to anyone seeking to be whisked away to a land of sheer deliciousness and black humour!
